December 2007

2007.12.31

Hey Everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. We enjoyed our last Christmas as a family of three, anticipating the newest addition. The room is finally ready and the bags are packed so now its just a waiting game. Below is our Christmas card this year along with some pictures of Hughes and very pregnant me by Trav:o)

I know I said I wouldn’t do a Christmas card with everything going on but I couldn’t help myself.

This is the longest time I have not blogged, over a week! But it has been a rough one. The day after Christmas I went to the hospital thinking I was going into labor. After a few hours of being monitored the very nice nurse said I was just having irritability. You would think after going through this once already I would know the difference between false labor and the real thing. After signing the paperwork and getting ready to leave the same nurse must have been able to feel my embarrassment and said, “this doesn’t mean you won’t go into labor tonight or tomorrow”. So sweet of her:o) Days later still nothing…just irritability, which makes sleeping, errands, parties…about everything quite a drag. Oh!! And yesterday after church we went out for blueberry pancakes which ended up being an ordeal. We stood for 30 minutes talking and keeping Hughes entertained before our table was ready. When I sat down I lost my vision and was really disorientated. Similar to if you get migraine and everything is really spotty. Thankfully my sister-in-law, a PA student at SLU, was there to give the lowdown. By standing for so long my blood pooled down to my feet, which leads to low blood pressure and loss of vision. Again, thanks to my great SIL, without her I would have made another trip to the hospital for nothing.

Now on to some business…the contest winner.

Bold

There were so many great entries this time and I enjoyed seeing how you spend your holiday season with your family. I love love this entry from the Bold Family who won my first session back after my maternity leave. Congratulations guys!!

I will be answering emails as much as I can in the next month. If it is more than 24 hours you will have to forgive me but I will make sure to take care of you as soon as I possibly can. If you are inquiring about wedding dates for 2009 I have new pricing and a meeting schedule to talk over your details.

I must thank every single one of my 2007 clients for the past year and I look forward to working with you again in the coming year. You all are so great and special!! Here’s wishing you a blessed 2008:o)

While we dream for a white Christmas I thought it would be a good idea to post a beautiful family taken this fall.

I know mom and dads always want their kids to be on their best behavior. The truth of it is I would much prefer for kids to be their rambunctious selves. They forget about the camera, the rules and in turn give great pictures like the following.

We all have that person that takes us back into time and no matter how long or what happens in between life nothing changes the friendship. Meg and I first met when I would wait for Travis after his chemistry class sophomore year in high school. She was always so cheerful and when we started working together at the milk store she became one of my good friends who got me through high school. If it’s sitting on her parents’ front porch spilling over our latest boy gossip or talking over the phone, she will always be a person I love talking with. I am so proud to be a part of her day and see her start a new life with Jim. Love you Meg!!

All orders received from now until December 28th will be processed after the holiday break. The office will be closed starting December 21st through the 28th. If you would like to schedule a session for Spring 2008 all of my weekends are booked but weekdays are still available. Please let me know if you are interested in any dates so I can make sure to get you scheduled. I will continue to post pictures from past sessions along with great photographers during this time and don't forget about the contest!!

Kids have the greatest imagination. While Paw Pa was helping us clear out the old office for painting, which is now the baby’s room, Hughes came across my tri-pod and did an impromptu photo session.

Apparently Paw Pa on the chair wasn’t working so Hughes had Paw Pa move to the fire truck. What a cooperative Paw Pa:o)

Who knew there is a name for what I am currently suffering from...while photographing the OB department at the hospital I shoot for and will be delivering at, I was talking to some great nurses about my problem. This problem happens to be the loss of my mind. I am starting to forget everything, mixing up words and easily distracted which is not like me at all. This morning Travis came into the kitchen..."I hope you are having the baby soon". "Well, yeah, so do I but what is your reasoning?" "You left your curling iron on for since yesterday morning!!" This is when I explained to him that the OB nurses told me there is a medical name for this, "placenta brain". Apparently the baby is sucking all the brain power from me in the last month:o) So as I wait for my mind to return here are some pictures of baby Meadow from a maternity session with Heather.

I have great clients who are always referring their family and friends. Jennifer is a future sister-in-law of the first bride I get to photograph next year. It was so nice to get to know the grooms mom and sister so on the wedding day they are another friendly face.

Jennifer is very brave walking through the brush, filled with snakes and spiders, to get this shot.

It is only fitting to announce my next contest with pictures from a past winner. This contest is simple...I would love to see how you spend your holiday season. Funny or sentimental, send in your pictures of what you do. I will announce the winner on December 28th. The prize is a good one...the winner will receive my first session availability when I return from maternity leave for no charge.

On to the last contest winner. This family celebrated two wonderful milestones on the day of their session. The little guy had his 5 month birthday and mom and dad celebrated their 5 year wedding anniversary!! I am so glad I was there to get shots of this moment in time. Enjoy!!

Happy Hanukkah to all of my Jewish clients!!!

I am planning on posting lots of sessions along with photographers I admire in the coming weeks before I fill the blog with baby pictures:o) The above picture is a perfect introduction to the first photographer, Kathleen Connally. She started with a point and shoot camera back in 2003 with a mission to photograph the 10 mile radius around her home of Durham Township, Pennsylvania.

A favorite of mine...

I couldn't wait to photograph this little guy when I saw his first picture a few months ago when Grandpa showed off his newest grandson to family and friends. Isn't he just adorable!!
