Darbi is my photo person, even thought that doesn't halfway equate to the love I have for her. Years ago she emailed me when I was starting out, sending so much support in one email. Since then we have grown into the photography business together and seeing how far Darbi has come with her talent...wow:):) She's my go to girl if I have a question about navigating through the massive amount of photograph recourses, the reason I have such awesome proofing, the first person I send my 2 am emails about editing images, and part of one of my very favorite wedding stories. Ever. And trust, I would inform you dear reader of this story only over sushi because it is that good. I'm so blessed Darbi is in my life and when this love wanted ME to photograph some anniversary pictures of her and her lovely Neil, I was ecstatic. They drove hours, enjoyed the best lunch on this side of the river and (my facebook friends remember this?!) watched me get yelled at by an old man for trespassing. ps-my reply was "you are mean". 

Starting with the favorite.

Neil is a rock-star, no but really.

I was quite sad when it was over but at least I have some pictures to romance. Miss and love!! 

Sometimes you meet people and instantly love them, Betsy and Zack are so full of life and connect so well together which I saw at our first meeting. Then we started talking about our dogs and the great personalities of Westie and Cairn Terriers...if you are lucky enough to have one in your life, you know how long we talked about them:) When Kansas City came up for the engagement session I got super excited because I have never photographed in the beautiful KC. It was a dream day for the session with the perfect blue sky and warm sun. Top that with Betsy and Zack, need I say more?!

This one is so great I must show it big:)

5 years after getting married I still think about wedding locations and visiting the infinity pool outside the Nelson-Atkins Meusem made this my new dream wedding location...so if you are getting married here, call me:)

I was going to simply write about how much I love Mallory and Emilie because they know my kids names and latest happenings through the blog and they are just so darn awesome to be around but I must say more. Say more about the impact every person and family I have the joy to photograph has in my life. Now as a mother myself, I feel as thought I don't follow the rules or look like most moms. Thankfully I have archived memories of my best friend's mom and my mother-in-law to help me make sense of this motherhood thing, categorized by sacrifice, heart-ships, unconditional love and have the best job in the whole wide world. I get to witness true love between couples, families, and mother and daughter.

Are Travis' cousins, well Cisco will be next month on the wedding day, and Kristi is just a year younger than Travis and I. Their engagement location choice thrilled me because I grew up a within a mile radius of the tunnel below my best friend and I sang "and I willl allllwaaaaays love yooooouoooouuu" and the blue building that once held a train repair shop a few blocks from my house. Add Kristi and Cisco in the mix of everyday scenery with a cloudy sky made their shoot so perfect. 

This might be my favorite engagement session picture ever. Kristi said it was like a nest...see what happens when you are willing to lay in sticks:):) You two are amazing!

Another favorite, love how the blue building looking like a really blue sky, the intimacy and the really great detailed stitching on their jeans.

Lucy was the winner of my Hawaii souvenir prize a few months back, it was easy to shop for her and the parents because I met them all back with Lucy was a newborn...a Hawaiian dress for Lucy and coffee for the parents because you asked:) Lucy is just as sweet as the first time I photographed this family.

They are in love, run marathons and like ice cream...so much in fact, they are forgoing cake at the wedding for an ice cream bar. Back to the marathons, anyone who runs in a marathon is superhuman and then top that with running as a couple!! They are in love:)

Absolute favorite.

Enjoy it!! Eat lots of chocolate and drink good coffee or whatever your indulgence is because this is a time to treat yourself. Get lots of hugs and love from your little ones and give it back to your mom. Smile at any woman you see and know you are part of a special club of new moms, great-grandmas, daughters to amazing women!

Love finding out how a couple came across me or photographing past bridesmaids as brides, Matt and Meghan's wedding is the winner for the amount of people I've photographed sitting in the pews on a wedding day. On the brides side, Alisa, the Churchwell Family, the Malawy Family, the entire Sizemore Family and on the Groom side, Tommy and Lynsey, Brad and Erica, and Tommy's sister along with the party pew in the back row. It was a great wedding and the sun shined down on us for the first wedding this year. Enjoy!

As if we didn't need evidence babies grow to little people too fast, above is a picture taken when Hughes started sitting up around 5 months old. I remember wishing to hear his little voice and thinking how crazy it was 5 months already went by!!

 

Today my boy woke up as a 4 year old and a little bit taller in the legs, Hughes swears to this. So we are off to make birthday wishes come true with requests of crunchy food for dinner, a "practice game of baseball", learning to drive (this request will be filled with a tractor ride) and blue ice cream with gummy bears.
